Oranges and SunshineOranges and Sunshine

Emily Watson stars as Margaret Humphries, a social worker who discovers that thousands of children have been deported to Australia after being told their parents have 'died'. Now grown up, these 'orphans' find out that their parents may be alive after all.

Children as young as four were sent to children's homes on the other side of the world. They were promised Oranges and Sunshine but instead got hard labour and abuse.

Margaret uncovers this scandal and single handedly reunites the children with their families, despite great difficulties. Based on a true story, this is highly recommended viewing!

Gordon Brown MP said: "One year ago I was proud to offer an apology for the UK's role in the shameful deportation of thousands of children to former colonies.  The deportation of the innocents was cruel, unnecessary and deeply unjust and I am pleased that the Child Migrants Trust continues its excellent work providing support services to those who were so wrongly robbed of their childhood. You have my warm best wishes and my heartfelt thanks."
